Galway Mayo Institute of Technology
Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is a multi-campus, multi-discipline, multi-award-winning institute serving a diverse student body of approximately 7,000 students.
GMIT Entry Requirements
If you apply to Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, you must achieve the minimum entry requirements for each course. Minimum entry requirements vary from course to course. Students must obtain both the minimum entry requirements and any specific programme requirements.
Applicants should check the minimum entry requirements of each individual course such as levels of Mathematics and number of Honours subjects required and any other requirements of a particular course such as a portfolio, entrance test or interview at www.gmit.ie/courses/all-courses.
HEAR-eligible applicants who achieve more than or equal to the required points for their chosen programme may receive offers in the same manner as any other student and do not count against the 5% of places allocated for reduced-points offers. Such students must still meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen course and will be entitled to all of the supports offered by the GMIT Access and Participation Office. However, it is important to note that being HEAR-eligible does not guarantee you a reduced-points offer.
How HEAR offers are made
HEAR applicants are informed by letter at the end of June if they are eligible or not for the HEAR scheme. Full details of a recheck process are available on the HEAR website: www.accesscollege.ie. If you are eligible for HEAR you will then be considered for a HEAR reduced points place under certain criteria. To be considered for a HEAR reduced points place, applicants must meet the HEAR eligibility criteria and the course entry requirements.
HEAR reduced points and merit offers are made through CAO and are in Round 1. If there are places still available, some reduced points offers are made in Round 2. If you get a HEAR reduced points offer this will appear as a regular offer online through the CAO. You will then receive a letter from the Institute to inform you that you have received a HEAR offer.
